Dear Parent and Guardian
Safer Internet day 2026
Today marks Safer Internet Day 2026 — a day dedicated to promoting safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology. This year’s theme is “Smart tech, safe choices – Exploring the safe and responsible use of AI”.
Our pupils and students are increasingly using Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to support their learning, creativity, and organisation—both in school and at home. When used well, AI can be a helpful companion, offering:
Homework support – breaking down complex topics, suggesting ideas, or helping pupils revise key concepts.
Creativity boosts – generating prompts for writing, brainstorming project ideas, or helping with planning and structure.
Organisation and study skills – helping pupils plan revision timetables, summarise long texts, or check their understanding of a topic.
However, it is equally important that teenagers learn to use AI sensibly and responsibly.
Please find below a link our most recent Online Safety Newsletter and additional Online Safety Day specific newsletter which includes guidance on AI tools — how they can be used safely, the importance of consent and digital wellbeing, and the skills young people need to navigate smart technology positively.

Over the next couple of days, our pupils and students will receive a briefing explaining what these policies mean for them and how we can support them to make sensible and safe decisions online.
Please take some time to speak to your young person about their use of the internet, both in and out of school, and their interactions with AI. Further support and guidance can be found via the UK Safer Internet Centre website, linked below:

We hope Safer Internet Day reminds us all that the internet and digital tools like AI can be powerful tools when we use them thoughtfully, safely and responsibly.
We will continue to offer education, support and guidance around this very important topic and thank you for supporting your young person to make smart, safe choices online.
