Dear parents,
Please find below PDF with a few learning activities for you to download, which are intended to help your child to feel confidently prepared to commence Autumn Term at St Christopher’s.
A welcome gift of the novel ‘Can You Get Jellyfish in Space’, provided by the School Library will be presented to all pupils during the intake evening. All pupils should read and use the novel to complete the activities on the worksheet below.
In addition to the welcome gift each Year 7 pupil will be able to choose a book from the 16 titles available from the Book Trusts 'BookBuzz' range in September and these will delivered before the end of the Autumn term. This was made possible by the generous contribution of ‘Friends of St Christopher’s’ or ‘FoSC’ and replaces the book they would normally get on Intake Evening. Last year the book was 'A Kind of Spark' and in previous years 'Wonder'.
I hope that your child will enjoy reinforcing and developing their learning over the summer break and that this measure will help to allay some of the anxieties of starting secondary school.
Keep coming back to the ‘Year 6 Transition’ website pages for additional support over the remaining weeks of this term, including a welcome video for pupils. Teaching staff are also visiting children in primary schools where this is possible, or making individual calls home. We know how important this physical contact is for answering questions and building relationships.
I wish you a happy, productive summer and look forward to welcoming the children at Main Reception on the first day for Year Seven. We shall keep you informed as government information regarding guidance for schools evolves.
