Setting Procedures

Year 7 pupils are placed in ability groups in Maths and Science from the start of their first term and in English and general subjects from October half-term. They follow a common curriculum in these groups which are decided on the basis of ability and attainment in primary school. Setting of pupils is reviewed regularly and adjusted as and when appropriate. Special arrangements are made for those requiring learning support.

Our homework policy stresses the importance of homework for all pupils, and parental co-operation is requested to ensure that such work is completed and returned punctually. Parents are asked to provide reasonable time and facilities for this. A homework timetable is issued to each child with a homework diary which we ask parents to check and sign each week.
