The FoSC BIG Quiz 2023
28/11/2023

Last Friday saw the return of the Friend's of St Christopher's (FoSC) BIG QUIZ in the Sixth Form along with the ever popular BIG RAFFLE draw.

We had a fantastic turn out to the quiz with 15 teams entered, ranging from current sixth formers, to members of staff from across the school and sixth form, to new parents and those that have been a part of our community for years. Rachel Shovelton, Chair of FoSC, kicked off the night and then handed the reigns over to our regular Quiz Master and ex-pupil Damian Haworth.

The quiz was made up of a number of rounds ranging from sports to geography, with plenty of frivolity in-between. Not forgetting the popular ‘Play Your Cards Right’ with a £50 spot prize. The school catering team did an amazing job and showed off their skills creating dishes to suit all tastes from around the world with a Lancashire Spud Pie, Indian Chick Pea and Spinach Curry or a Mexican Chilli. This ensured everyone was on top form to take on the questions.

Part way through the quiz we held the BIG Raffle draw with a first prize of £500 for one lucky individual. We also had a range of other prizes kindly donated by local businesses and members of FoSC. You can see all the winning numbers below. Please contact the school direct to collect a prize if you have won.

The winning quiz team on the night came from the schools ‘Science Department’ taking the title by one point against the regular winners from the schools Admin Team, brilliantly named ‘Tequila a Mocking Bird’ (they may have had one too many this time).

Thank you to everyone who took part, as we have raised so far a whopping £205 on the night and along with the fantastic BIG Raffle ticket sales we are pleased to announce we have a grand total of £2,664 (money is still coming in so we are sure this is going to rise). We need to give a special mention to Form 7B who sold a massive £310 worth of raffle tickets! All this will help with purchasing some well needed equipment for the school and sixth form.

Well done to everyone who took part and we can’t wait for next years!
