With Him
26/02/2024

Twice, in two short verses as Jesus calls His disciples, this two-word phrase stands out: Jesus calls His disciples for the purpose of simply being ‘with Him.’ And He is still calling us for the same purpose today.

At St Christopher’s Youth Church, our third and final spiritual DNA strand is to: “Grow followers of Jesus.” We are discovering that the best way to do that is to be and to stay with Him.

Sometimes, even our transactional language reveals that this simplest of requirements of the Christian journey is difficult for us. We talk about ‘spending time’ with God, or ‘doing’ our devotions. Why does it always have to be about achievement? Today, can we simply waste some time with God, and just be with Him? Like so much in God’s upside down Kingdom, you might just find it’s the most productive part of the day, but that’s never the aim. The aim is being with God for its own sake.

Why not waste some time with God today?

“He appointed twelve that they might be with him.”
Mark 3:14a
