Science Assistant Head of Department Vacancy

Science Assistant Head of Department / Teacher of Chemistry or Physics

MPR/UPR + TLR2b

An outstanding opportunity to teach in a flourishing and forward thinking 11-18 single academy where the wellbeing of staff is a priority.

Required for September 2024 for this heavily over-subscribed and successful Church of England Academy, an enthusiastic, able and ambitious teacher is sought to support the management and leadership of the science department, and take strategic and day-to-day responsibility for KS3 Science. The successful candidate will be required to teach Science at key stage 3 and have the required knowledge and qualification to teach Chemistry or Physics at key stage 4 and 5. This post is well suited to a highly effective teacher ready for their first leadership post or a more experienced leader eager to join an exceptional team.

The successful candidate will join a thriving and supportive team and work under the direction of a well-established and highly regarded Head of Department. The Science Department consistently produces high rates of pupil progress and attainment which place it amongst the school’s strongest subjects. Teachers thrive in an environment which balances support and structure with autonomy and independence. The number of students opting to study triple science at GCSE is consistently high and this means that recruitment into all three A-Level subjects in our outstanding sixth form is strong.

The school of 1000 pupils, plus a Sixth Form of 300 pupils, is attractively and conveniently situated close to the Ribble Valley and has excellent motorway connections via M65 to M6 and M62.

The application form and vacancy pack is available for download opposite. Completed applications should be made via email to vacancies@st-christophers.org.
