Year 8 Bikeability Success
10/02/2020

For the second year we are half way through Year 8 Bikeability. Underpinned by the National Standard for cycle training; a government-recognised set of principles. Bikeability is an improved, updated and more relevant version of the old cycling proficiency scheme, delivered by professional instructors from Go Velo

Bikeability Level 3 equips riders with the skill and confidence to ride in more challenging roads and traffic situations - busier streets, queuing traffic, complex junctions and roundabouts. It also includes planning routes for safe cycling. Following Year 7 geography lessons pupils put their six figure grid reference skills to the test planning safe cycling routes.

Groups have rode to Baxenden and Great Harwood and taken in the sights of the tranquil, yet muddy Leeds and Liverpool canal on some routes. All in all, we’ve had some very muddy, yet happy children, what a better way to recognise children’s mental health week, by enjoying the great outdoors.

X band will start their training on Tuesday 25th February with XC first to get in the saddle.
