A Level Triumph for the Class of 2022
18/08/2022

It has been a delight to witness so many students receiving outstanding A-level results, allowing them to access the very best universities and apprenticeships. It is a joy to lead a school which equips so many with the opportunity to make their mark nationally and internationally. St Christopher’s has much to be proud of.

With a 100% pass rate, top grades (A*-C) at 84%, and a record number of students securing places at Oxford and Cambridge, we have surpassed our expectations in a year when the national figures will show a notable decline in headline grades. From students who have exceeded their target grades, to those securing places on highly competitive university courses, we pass-on our congratulations and best wishes.

Our students deserve all the praise and acclaim that they will receive, and I wish them well – they are a wonderful group of young people, cheated out of their GCSE examinations two years ago, experiencing COVID disruption during their first year of A-level study but now able to celebrate! I would also like to highlight the support of their parents and the dedication and expertise of our talented teachers who have guided and nurtured so many students through their time in the sixth form.

We are passionate about raising levels of aspiration and encouraging pupils to aim high and these results confirm that we are doing our job really well.”

Mr R D Jones
Headmaster

“My time at St Christopher's has been a delight and a blessing. I am so grateful to all the teachers who supported me, and for the supportive community that exists here at the Sixth Form. I achieved the grades (A*A D*) and am going to study History at the University of Oxford. I'm excited for what the future holds.”

Ana Scoon (Burnley)

“The last two years have been difficult and for that reason I’m really proud of what I have achieved (A*A*A). I’ve made so many amazing memories at the Sixth Form and I am very grateful to the teachers for having faith in me. I’m excited to start a new adventure, studying Geography at Lancaster University, but my time here at St Christopher’s will always stay with me.”

Eve Drury (Clitheroe)

“The last two years at St Christopher’s Sixth Form have helped me to fulfil my potential, being surrounded by friends and great teachers encouraging me to do my best. I’ve got the grades I need (A*AA) to study Politics and Philosophy at the University of Manchester.”

Harry Sharples (Brierfield)

“My time at St Christopher’s and the Sixth Form has been brilliant! After seven years it is going to be hard to leave. The past few years have been so difficult with the pandemic, but I am excited for my next adventure studying dentistry at the University of Leeds, after gaining A*AA.”

Georgia Wild (Accrington)

“After having six months out because of Covid, I am extremely pleased with my results of BCC. Despite all the disruption to the school year, St Christopher’s Sixth Form and all the staff have really helped me to achieve these grades so that I can study Diagnostic Radiography at the University of Cumbria.”

Jacob Ecclestone (Great Harwood)

“I’ve really enjoyed my time at the Sixth Form, the atmosphere, and the amazing friends I have met. All of which helped me to gain the grades I need to join the Police Force on the higher degree apprenticeship programme. I was considering to study Business at the University of Chester, which I could have done with BCB, but decided my career path really led elsewhere. I can’t wait to join and I’m incredibly happy with the choice I have made.”

Amelia Litherland (Great Harwood)

"I am incredibly proud of all our students and the great results they have achieved after such challenging times during the pandemic, when many faced weeks of on-line schooling and periods of isolation. Their results are a credit to their hard work, determination to succeed, the support of their parents and the expertise of the teaching staff. I wish them well for their future endeavours and we celebrate with you today!"
