Work continues at pace on the £1.3 million improvement to the school’s heating system.
The transformation at St Christopher’s has continued to progress with impressive speed, thanks to the skilled hands of CM Oxendale (Great Harwood). The school’s outdated heating system is quickly becoming a thing of the past.
Most classrooms were now equipped with state-of-the-art heaters, which will provide a welcome warmth during the cool autumn months. The Hall and Studio, long overdue for attention, have brand-new heating systems installed, ensuring comfort for large assemblies and acts of worship.

The biggest milestone came when the old oil-fired boilers, symbols of the school’s aging infrastructure, were officially removed. In their place, efficient gas-fired units sit, being prepared to serve the school for years to come.
As the team move forward, the next stage is in sight: completing the final phases of the heating refit. This includes replacing the old calorifier hot water vessels and installing advanced control systems to regulate temperatures across the building.
With half-term just around the corner, the plan is to have the new heating system up and running immediately after the break. The school buzzes with excitement, eager to enjoy a future where warmth, efficiency, and sustainability were seamlessly intertwined.
The whole project is looking to be completed by early 2025.
