Staff take lead in Greek Theatre studies at A Level
23/11/2023

Mrs Lillie has been involved in an exciting project with the Classics Department at Warwick University. She is helping develop ideas of how to incorporate research into the teaching of Greek Theatre at A Level, along with nine other teachers from across the country. The project has been organised by Dr Emmanuela Bakola and supported by Dr Xavier Buxton of the University of Warwick.

They had their first meeting in London earlier this month where they discussed different approaches to teaching Ancient Greek Theatre and Aeschylus' play the Persians, which will be performed at the Warwick Ancient Drama Festival in January and all students who study Classics in upper and lower sixth from St Christopher’s will be attending.

Mrs Lillie commented:

“This project is an exciting opportunity to be involved in and has already had an impact on our teaching of Classical Civilisation here at St Christopher's. I am looking forward to moving forward and developing this project further and the impact it will have on our students."

The next meeting of the research group is in the Spring. We’re looking forward to learning more on how this develops over the coming months and hearing all about the students trip to the play in the new year.
