St Christopher's Awarded 'Good' Ofsted Award
16/05/2022

St Christopher’s CE High School and Sixth Form, Accrington was inspected over two days in March and we are delighted to announce that we have retained our ‘Good’ Award.

Headmaster Mr Richard Jones said:

“I am delighted with our latest Ofsted report and salute all those members of the school community who work hard to ensure that the pupils in our care receive an excellent standard of education. It is a privilege and a joy to lead a Church school which delivers across the board, one which has been able to maintain a strong track record over many decades and one where Christian virtues inform all that we say and do.”

The report commented that ‘the school's values weave through all aspects of school life’ and that ‘students feel valued and take pride in the work they do.’

Another highlight from the report was ‘all pupils benefit from the many opportunities on offer outside their classroom learning’ which is a testament to the fantastic extra-curricular and enrichment programmes made available by staff. We were also pleased that the inspection team concluded that ‘all pupils move on to high-quality destinations at the end of their time at the school.’

Our staff were also recognised for placing ‘Pupils’ care and well-being are at the heart of everything that they do.’ And that ‘Pupils with special educational needs are identified swiftly and accurately. Teachers are skilled at supporting pupils with SEND in lessons.’

Chair of the Governing Body, Mr Frank Whitehead commented:

“Governors are delighted that the school’s many strengths have been identified and commented upon. The work of the whole school community is recognised and we are pleased that St Christopher’s has once again been judged as one guided by clear values, where pupils are safe and feel happy, are supported by a strong curriculum, achieve well and move on to high quality destinations. We do not take success of this sort for granted and appreciate the role that a supportive parent body plays in ensuring such positive outcomes.”
