GCSE Success 2020
20/08/2020

At a time of great uncertainty for many this has been a day of triumph for St Christopher’s High School and our excellent pupils!

Headmaster, Mr Jones would like to congratulate all our pupils and staff…

“I am delighted with this year’s excellent set of GCSE results. At a time of considerable national uncertainty regarding the release of public examination results, the Class of 2020 can now draw breath, feel a sense of relief and celebrate outstanding results.

Pupil attainment has been strong in a number of subject areas, especially in English and mathematics. I am delighted that nearly 90% of the year group gained a good pass in English and over 80% in maths.

It has been particularly pleasing to see a significant increase in the proportion of top grades awarded 9-7, with over 30% of entries assessed at this level across all subjects.

Our pupils deserve all the praise and acclaim that they will receive and I wish them well, from those who attained at the highest level to those who made great progress and overcame challenging circumstances. They are a wonderful group of well-rounded young people I am thrilled that so many have chosen to continue their studies with us in the sixth form.

I also want to highlight the dedication and expertise of our talented teachers who have guided and nurtured them through their time at the school and managed the process of Centre Assessed Grades with professionalism and integrity. The teacher grades shared today have been through a rigorous process of checking and quality assurance and we are confident that they represent an accurate and true reflection of academic ability.

These results help to reinforce St Christopher’s long-standing reputation for academic excellence.”

Georgia Wild who achieved seven Grade 9s and two Grade 8s commented, “The school and teachers have been really supportive throughout my time at the school and helped me achieve these grades. I’m so happy and can’t wait for the next step at St Christopher’s Sixth Form, where I will be studying Physics, Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry at A Level.”

Georgia’s mum Tracy said “It means so much for Georgia to do so well. We are all over the moon for Georgia and ever so grateful for the fantastic teaching at the school. We knew it would be great in-spite of all the recent uncertainty after my older son did well from studying at the school and has gone on to a fantastic career in the RAF. I couldn’t be any more thankful and proud.”

Stanley Jones who completed a clean sweep of nine Grade 9s said “I’m really proud of myself and the help form the school and teachers to get these results. Without them I ‘m not sure if I would have pushed myself to the best of my abilities. I’m so happy to have come and can’t wait to start at the Sixth Form.”

Stanley will be studying Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Psychology at St Christopher’s Sixth Form.

We'd like to wish all our pupils the very best in their future endeavours!
