Robert Bryce, Joseph Murray, Ewan McKavett & Harry Pilkington
Enormous congratulations to the St Christopher's senior boys swimming team, who recently competed at the English Schools Swimming Association National Team Championship Finals, held at the prestigious London Aquatic Centre.
At the North West Regional qualification heats, held in Everton, the boys secured qualification to go on and represent the North West in the 200m Freestyle and the 200m Medley, finishing third and first respectively.
The team consisted of Joseph Murray and Ewan McKavett from the Sixth Form and Harry Pilkington and Robert Bryce of Year 11. In the 200m freestyle race, the boys achieved a very respectable eighteenth place. In the 200m Medley over the three heats, St Christopher's qualified for the final in seventh position. Having qualified in style, the team managed to go even quicker in the final to be crowned the fifth fastest 200m medley team in the country! The boys are a very young team to be competing in that age group, so to have come fifth against the big national swim schools was a fantastic result. Well done to all of them!
Special thanks must go to the Friends of St Christopher's, who funded the official hoodies worn to the event by the team.
