Ecuador Trip Fundraising

15th May 2017

Ecuador is a biodiversity hotspot with contrasting landscapes from coastal plains, to farmlands and jungles in the Andes along with the unique wildlife of the Galapagos. On the four week long, life-enhancing school expedition students will be travelling into the Amazon River Basin and experiencing first-hand the wide-ranging issues facing this country and its inhabitants.
They will also visit the Otavalo market, a vibrant and multi-cultural shopping experience, undoubtedly one of the most spectacular markets in South America. As the students travel around this stunning country, they will also get the chance to see amazing mountain landscapes whilst visiting the bustling city of Quito and the surrounding area.
During the four to five days spent on the Galapagos Islands, our students will have the opportunity to glimpse some of the most amazing wildlife imaginable. Many species here can be seen nowhere else on the planet! They will learn about essential conservation projects that are being undertaken on the islands to protect this precious ecosystem, whilst understanding the valuable contribution these islands have made to scientific research and development.
Part of the challenge for the students is fundraising to cover the cost of their expedition as well as those associated with the projects they will contribute to in Ecuador including school kitchen improvements and the Ethnobotanical Garden (Amazonia).
