How to apply to St Christopher's Sixth Form

Admission to the Sixth Form is for those students who wish to study within the ethos of a Church School, whose school record shows an aptitude for study, and who fulfil the academic criteria specified for the courses for which they apply.

The admissions number for the Lower Sixth, subject to student course choices, is 135.

All A-level courses will require a minimum of 4 GCSE Grades B or above, plus at least a Grade 4 in English and Mathematics. Some subjects have additional requirements and these are set out under the subject heading.

All applicants will be invited to attend a short informal interview. School records will be considered in order to inform the requirement that all students show an aptitude for study.

Our Sixth Form Open Evening in October was the first opportunity to find out more detailed information about the courses that are available. St Christopher's will also be present at the post-16 opportunities events to be held at local high schools.

In the event of over-subscription, the following criteria will be applied in order:

  • Students who studied throughout Key Stage 4 at St Christopher's
  • Students who live in Hyndburn and for whom there are vacancies on the courses chosen.
  • Other students for whom there are vacancies on the courses chosen.

Further details of the admissions procedure, including information on appeals are available from the school.

The first deadline for the receipt of applications is Friday 13th January 2017. If you would like to use our new online application form, please click HERE.
